This urban makeover was far more than skin deep. The circa-1870 Larned Building was badly deteriorated when the owners decided to transform its crumbling retail/office interior into a parking facility and connect it to the existing Vanderbilt Garage next door.

Hueber-Breuer was charged with building the 150-car parking garage inside this historic structure without damaging the exterior in any way. A new concrete foundation was poured and a steel structure was threaded through the existing floors and walls before the interior could be removed. The new structure was built from the top down, a remarkable engineering feat and an industrial first. This award winning project is an example of Hueber-Breuer innovation at work.
