Syracuse Hancock International Airport
Hueber-Breuer was the General Contractor for Hancock International Airport’s 147,000-square-foot terminal renovation, and security and access improvement project. The LEED® Gold Certified addition, renovation, and site-wide utility improvements included connecting two concourses of the airport. It also includes the expansion of the existing baggage handling system with the installation of eight conveyor lines and associated terminal security access equipment. Complete replacement of the existing terminal’s mechanical system and creation of a new central passenger screening checkpoint were also a part of the work.
The project was executed over 22 phases to ensure there was no interruption to airport operations -imperative to maintaining 24-hour, 7-days-a-week airline travel schedules. To reduce the overall impact of the building on the environment and minimize energy usage, conservation measures such as premium efficient motors, energy recovery HVAC systems, low-flow lavatory fixtures, rainwater harvesting, and recycled building materials are incorporated.
