Lakeview Amphitheater is a large amphitheatre built on the western shore of Onondaga Lake. The Onondaga Lake Cleanup removed contaminants from old industrial sites, removed material from the lake-bottom, and capped portions of the lake bottom. The EPA designation of the site as a brownfield made construction dependent upon the cleanup of the lake being far enough along to allow construction. While the cleanup yields a fresh, beautiful shoreline against the backdrop of the Amphitheatre, it made for a challenging 6-month Fast-Track schedule.
The Amphitheatre is directly across from the Great New York State Fairgrounds. Hueber-Breuer served Site supervision for the Primary Construction Phase of the Amphitheatre project. Our team supervised subcontractors to ensure safety, timeliness and a quality build for this expansive concert pavilion which provides 5,000 seats under the pavilion and another 12,500 seats on a manicured lawn. In addition to the amphitheatre stage, this project also features a back of the house building with offices, lounges, dressing rooms, an event center, bathrooms, a loading dock, AV control rooms, two detached facilities for restrooms, a separate box office building, parking, and acres of road and landscaping.
The first performance took place September 3rd, 2015.
